The Institute
of Electrical and Electronics Engineers or IEEE (read I-Triple-E) is a non-profit professional
association . ·
IEEE is the world’s largest professional
association dedicated to advancing technological innovation and excellence
for the benefit of humanity. · IEEE produces 30% of the world's literature in the electrical and electronics engineering and computer science fields, publishing well over 100 peer-reviewed journals. ·
The
IEEE provides learning opportunities within the engineering sciences,
research, and technology. ·
The
goal of the IEEE education programs is to ensure the growth of skill and
knowledge in the electricity-related technical professions and to foster individual
commitment to continuing education among IEEE members, the engineering and
scientific communities, and the general public ·
IEEE
offers educational opportunities such as IEEE
eLearning Library, the Education Partners Program, Standards in Education and Continuing Education Units (CEUs). ·
IEEE also sponsors a website designed
to help young people understand better what engineering means, and how an
engineering career can be made part of their future. ·
IEEE is one of the leading standards-making organizations in the world. IEEE performs its
standards making and maintaining functions through the IEEE
Standards Association (IEEE-SA). IEEE standards affect a wide range of
industries including: power and energy, biomedical and healthcare, Information
Technology (IT), telecommunications,
transportation, nanotechnology, information assurance, and many more. ·
Each year, over 100,000 technical professionals attend the
more than 1,200 conferences sponsored or co-sponsored by the IEEE. Membership: Ø It has more than 400,000 members in more than 160 countries Ø IEEE
members are engineers, scientists and allied professionals whose technical
interests are rooted in electrical and computer sciences, engineering and
related disciplines. Benefits
of being a member: It is quite hard to state all the
benefits you will gain by being an IEEE member, we will just try to state
some of them: 1) As a
member of IEEE you will be presented with new resources, valuable

Branch gives students the opportunity to meet and learn from fellow students,
as well as faculty members and professionals in the field. 2- A good IEEE
Student Branch can be one of the most positive elements in an Electrical
Engineering or Engineering Technology department 3- Student Branch
activities offer numerous educational, technical, and professional advantages
of IEEE membership through special projects, activities, meetings, tours and
field trips. 4- Seminars with guest
speakers, who are professionals working in the field, enable students to
enhance their 5- Knowledge
outside the classroom. 6- Joint seminars
let students meet and talk with other interested student 7- Listed below are a some programs and
projects that keep students interested in the Branch and its activities and
their chosen profession: 1) Participation in regional conferences,
leadership training workshops and develop leadership, interpersonal and team
building skills. 2) Participation in awards, scholarships and
